why did you participate?

I saw a music video the other day that was so ridiculous it made me laugh. You guys should go to YouTube and search "God Hates Fags." There's a country song named that, and it's this peaceful little tune, but the lyrics are, in short, "GAWWWD HAAAAETS FAAAGS"

It was funny at first, but then I got to thinking that there are actually people out there who believe this crap. That's really what inspired this poem.

It's Just Rhetoric...Right?

Sometimes I look up into the sky,
As the water runs off my skin, though it congregates in my hair
And I wonder, What if there was just one drop of chocolate?

 

It would have to tell the others,
?Hey, I?m a drop of chocolate. What are you going to do??
So nonchalant on the outside, yet inside, he trembles.

 

And suddenly, the rain riots,
Falling to the ground faster than it had ever before
As if, in destroying itself, it would destroy the ?alien.?

 

The pastors of the rain scream,
They yell, they condemn, they damn.
Though maybe they?ve forgotten they have no such power.

 

The others shun him,
As the throngs of droplets move along
Refusing contact with him, an isolationist approach.

 

Because in their minds
If they are seen with this sweet drop, they may
Change their chemical make-up, and become more chocolate

 

Wouldn?t that just be terrible?

 

And yet, in this silence,
Perhaps he finds his purpose, perhaps he finds himself
And suddenly he realizes, maybe, just maybe

And in this train of thought,
He would hit the ground with a dull ?splat.?
Laying forever, indiscernible from the rest, in a puddle.

 

But soon, soon

He would find himself pulled skyward
Towards the warmth and light of the sun.

 

He would cringe,
Expecting the wrathful eyes of God upon him
Expecting the eternal flame, expecting to be forsaken.

 

But alas, this wouldn?t be
As the Rain God would smile benevolently upon him,
And say, ?Fear not. I will never forsake you.?

 

And so, I look up into the night,
And think, ?No. That could never happen.
What kind of a terrible society would that be??
